Malpas 'Euro Championship 2008'

Presentation Day

Sunday 8 June

OUR PRESENTATION DAY

As the end of the season got nearer
We prepared for our presentation day.
So a spoof Euro tournament was arranged
And Malpas Juniors all turned up to play.

Xav took Spain and "H" had Germany,
Two great teams but both coached by "BERKS".
Keith Fowles had the "British" team, Poland
And "T-J", well he had the Turks.

Group A was fiercely contested
And was eventually won by the Czechs.
Their coach Andy Earl, wears his hair in a curl
And he showed off by flexing his pecs.

Group B was even tougher
With the winners really quite stuffy.
The players represented Croatia
And their coach was Colin Duffy.

Group C was won at a canter
The Dutch had two wins and a draw.
Young Jeff Nevitt coached the team from Holland
And orange was the colour they wore.

In Group D a shoot out was needed
As the coaches blood pressure started to boil.
But Russia eventually triumphed
And the coach was the ageing Steve Moyle.

Then after the football came trophies
With all the kids looking keen.
We started with the under sevens
Finishing off with the under fourteens.

Each player was rightly rewarded
For the effort they had made through the year.
Proud parents all stood clapping and cheering
While eating burgers and enjoying a beer.

The spirit we have here at Malpas
As a junior football club sets us apart.
And what we all enjoyed together that day
Really is only the start.

THANK YOU to everyone involved in the day
With many of you staying 'til late.
A great time was had by all of us there
So thanks once again it was great!
