Malpas & District JFC Succession Planning
It is a reality in junior football that volunteering is the only reason our clubs exist and without coaches and club officials giving freely of their time, there would be no club at Malpas. A further reality is that coaches and club officials are usually one in the same, not forgetting they are parents too and this is not sustainable as the time will come when their child will finish at U16 and involvement in the club will naturally come to an end.
Malpas & District JFC is putting plans in to place now to ensure that when this scenario happens, we will already have the solutions because we have got ahead of the game and prepared for succession of our coaches and club officials.
We have coaches in place for a limited number of age groups from U10 to U15, which means that football training on a weekday evening, and matches at the weekend are likely to be in hand. However, these coaches cannot operate without a framework of support in terms of governance, administration and support, which is fundamental to the club’s future.
Coaches for each age-group have been tasked with discussing this succession strategy with their parents in an effort to find new faces that can step up and support our players and coaches to take Malpas & District JFC forward in the next few years. We believe that within our group of parents, we already have the skills, experience and vision to progress and by looking outside of the fully committed coaching team we will find more sustainable solutions.
The table below summarises the roles and responsibilities that Malpas & District JFC will need to secure as the club moves forward.
